Title: Lab Manager
Reports to: Mechanical Engineering Team
Location: Cambridge, MA
Position Overview
The Role

  • Prototype and Assembly: Assemble prototype devices and test fixtures with Portal’s engineering
team. Work to develop, define, and improve processes that will ultimately scale to a high-volume
manufacturing environment.
  • Assembly of Devices: Work in production environment to assemble needle-free autoinjector for
clinical and patient use. Follow good manufacturing practices and good documentation practices.
  • Lab Manager: Maintain an organized and safe environment that is accessible to all trained staff.
  • Lab Technician: Aid in execution and design of test methods; analyze and summarize results.
  • Equipment Manager: Track and coordinate the maintenance and calibration of Portal’s advanced

instrumentation (x-ray equipment, CNC machine tools, force plate fixtures, electronic test
equipment, hand-held gauges, etc.).

  • Material Handling: Work with engineering and supply chain manager to maintain Portal’s
controlled inventory, including receiving, inspections, and material transfers.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
  • 1-4 years industry experience (medical device/regulated industry preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Medical device test, design, or manufacturing is a strong plus.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Working knowledge of test and measurement equipment, data analysis, and/or statistics
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with a diverse group of coworkers, vendors, and

customers.
